Lethal League is a one-on-one fighting game with a single projectile as the main means of attack for both characters. Contrary to other fighting games, the characters cannot damage each other directly. Instead they have to hit a ball with a baseball bat to speed it up or to change its trajectory, causing it to hit the other player. There is an amount of strategy to it as the ball bounces around the screen and players can dodge or jump over it. The environment consists of a single, non-scrolling screen. The character is controlled through the keyboard with an additional key to hit the ball. It is possible to jump and hit the ball mid-air.
